Huge land and aquatic animals such as elephants and whales are very small when compared with the largest living thing in the world – plant. Sequoia is a huge prehistoric evergreen tree. It has reddish-brown color and a large cone-shaped leaves. Fossil remains of these trees are found in rocks, which are thought to have existed before the Jurassic period between 180 and 140 million years. In California there are giant sequoias (Sequoiadendron giganteum), which are considered the largest living creatures on our planet, and thus one of thenatural wonders of the world.
